Hosts of Living Forms $4.99 Charles Darwin transformed our understanding of the world with the idea of natural selection, challenging the notion that species are fixed and unchanging. These writings from On the Origin of Species explain how different life forms appear all over the globe, evolve over millions of years, become extinct and are supplanted. GREAT IDEAS. Throughout history, some books have changed the world. They have transformed the way we see ourselves - and each other. They have inspired debate, dissent, war and revolution. They have enlightened, outraged, provoked and comforted. They have enriched lives - and destroyed them. Now Penguin brings you the works of the great thinkers, pioneers, radicals and visionaries whose ideas shook civilization and helped make us who we are. |

Hosts $7.99 Repairman Jack has been tearing up the urban adventure scene ever since he was introduced in the New York Times bestseller The Tomb. As his fans know, Repairman Jack doesn't deal with electronic appliances; he's a situation fixer, no matter how weird or deadly a situation may be. Repairman Jack has no last name, no Social Security number, and no qualms when it comes to getting the job done-even if it means putting himself in serious danger. After fifteen years of separation, Jack is contacted by his long-lost sister, Kate, to help her track down the source of her girlfriend Jeanette's sudden trance-like behavior. Referred by a mysterious stranger who gives only Jack's name and phone number, Kate is shocked to find out that the "repairman" she seeks is none other than her little brother-and not altogether happy to find out what little "Jackie" has been doing with himself for all these years. With Jack leading the way, Kate finds out that Jeannette's behavior can be traced back to the experimental therapy she underwent for a brain tumor: now Jeannette's brain and those of several other subjects are infected by a mutated virus. Like any good virus, it wants to multiply-and if Jack can't stop the virus in its path, there will be deadly results. Meanwhile, Jack is traveling on the 9 train when suddenly a passenger goes berserk and starts shooting at random-leaving Jack no choice but to throw himself into the spotlight by putting the shooter down. Worse for Jack, one of his fellow passengers is a reporter for the local tabloid, The Light, who sees Jack's heroism as his ticket to journalistic stardom. The reporter promises to make Jack a celebrity hero, a household name-which could mean the end of Repairman Jack as we know him. |

WORLD CUP HOSTS and the ROTATION SYSTEM;a mere pipe dream?
the installation of a new system of picking who hosts the world cup has had many smile.it does seem very democratic.yet time will test just how practical it is...
Think about it.How many countries in Asia can host such a tourney? How about Africa?Even South America?
This is not about questioning the ability of anyone being a host;just a brainstormer.A bit of critical thinking.
Personally,i believe that on average,Europe comprises of the best hosts. It is located on the most strategic time zone and geographically,it lies at the epicenter of football fanatism.
While most other continents share an equal love of the game, the question of time zones arises.
Mexico would almost claim to have hosted 2 of the best WCs.1970 and 1986.
Personally,at the risk of annoying many,i believe the USA was the best host ever.First, the chubby populace thronged the venues in ways never seen before.Crowds averaged over 70,000 albeit the smell of popcorn in the scorching summer.
your thoughts please.....
Simply someone is always disadvantaged in regards to time differences. I'm more inclined to go with countries hosting rather than continents. I think with the game becoming truly global now and the evident push towards keeping it that way should see all countries who are capable of hosting and meeting all the criteria, such as security, stadium capacity and safety etc, should have the opportunity. It's a huge event and raises huge revenue. The holding of such a tournament is a privilege that all who can host with sufficient expertise should share in experiencing.
